{"id":847,"date":"2012-12-01T16:42:09","date_gmt":"2012-12-01T15:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"\/blog\/?page_id=847"},"modified":"2024-08-21T19:52:05","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T17:52:05","slug":"about-sac","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.sactest.net\/blog\/about-sac\/","title":{"rendered":"About SAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Scandinavian Activity Contest is an amateur radio contest that have focus on Scandinavia and the Nordic countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The contest is taking place twice every year, on <a title=\"Wikipedia on CW - Continuous Wave\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Continuous_wave\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CW <\/a>(telegraphy) and <a title=\"Wikipedia on Single Side Band modulation\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Single-sideband_modulation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSB <\/a>(telephony) on the five shortwave bands that are dedicated to <a title=\"Wikipedia on Amateur Radio\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amateur_radio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amateur radio<\/a>. The contest started in 1959 and has developed a lot since then. The SAC is sponsored by the Nordic Radio Amateur Union &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/nrau.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NRAU<\/a> and organized by the SAC Contest Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the contest is to activate Scandinavian ham radio operators to contact as many other participants as possible outside Scandinavia.
